Screen Printing - Development
Having numerous examples of the screen printed half-tone image it became apparent that non-of them were perfect or how the image was imagined, each print was different and unique few creating new shapes which were not on the image and gave much-needed texture to the old photo. This added depth and a more sinister look than it already had.
This particular print faded at the bottom and created this effect which looks a lot like its rotted or burnt away from the bottom yet the image remains legible and holds more character than it had done as a regular picture.
This print has made a white space at the bottom which would be good to hold type, creating a good white space. The darkness of the top corner will make the Penguin Logo stand out and have a visible place on the page.
The type, if red, can lay over the image and still be legible yet the white space on this print which is the best outcome of the many made. For the choice of typeface, both serif and san serif should be considered, yet typefaces such as Bodoni or Baskerville should be used as they both work very well within the theme.
