Studio brief 2 Public service video

Having looked at the majority of the public service videos I have decided on focussing on the 'SPLINK' one which helps explain the Green Cross Code, a brand created by the National Road Safety Committee, to raise awareness of pedestrian road safety in Britain. The video uses a live action scenario of three children about to cross the road, who know the Green Cross Code, whilst a voiceover from Jon Pertwee plays over the scenario and explains the acronym 'SPLINK', which means; S = Safe Stop, P = Pavement (stay on the pavement), L = Look and Listen for cars' I = If traffic is coming, let it pass, N = No traffic is a safe time to cross, K = Keep looking and listening til you reach the other side of the road. The video is meant to inform of road safety and does so by explaining how to cross a road. The tone of the video is stern yet light hearted through using well known actor Jon Pertwee and also three young children on a summers day, it is clear and informative. The video audience is primarily children yet I think it could have a broader sense as at the end Pertwee says "Now we will all remember the Green Cross Code and use it" this gives the sence the video is for a wide range of people and the use of children demonstrating what to do makes it seem an easy task as if to say if children can do it you can to, a rather patronising style if so.
