Upon sending the final Ideas to From White To Gray - He decided that He couldnt choose between the five images/designs, so instead chose three finals each of which will be put onto social media and individually each will be present on the three music platforms of which they intend to be released onto. The covers will also be represented through facebook, instagram and other social media accounts to get a wide promotion for the track.
EVALUATION - This brief was set by the Charlie Gray, musician, producer, song writer and photographer, for the design of a single cover for his upcoming track 'red brick roads'. Charlie, who performs under the stage name of 'From White To Gray', wanted to be involved in every aspect of the design, this collaborative process is something I've done before but not as rewarding as this particular experience. Through constant discussion and critiquing of ideas with the client, I was able to get more and more involved with the whole project, being asked to help out on the music video recording was something I had not done before but something that helped us to realise the brief better, having the video shoot be a huge influence on the look of the single cover. Through the video shoot we photographed the locations and the people of the music video, some of which became the main image for the single cover. What began as a client brief soon turned into a collaboration between the musician on myself, using his photography skills and my design skills to realise the final solutions, having worked on client and collaboration briefs in the past I often found them to be straining challenges with little reward, and often hugely time consuming, but with this project I found the constant discussions and bouncing back and forth of ideas worked really well and was the most beneficial collaboration I had all year, following from this closer to the release of the single (End of May) I will be producing more promotional material and another two single covers.
In future I want to build on this look I have created for the musician and evolve it further seeing how the type style can be applied to more upbeat colours that the musicians music will relate to in the follow up songs. I would like to produce physical copies for him for a physical CD, Vinyl or Tape release. Both Charlie and myself have agreed to keep working together until the end of the year when he will focus on an album release and tour in 2019.
