OUGD603 - Collab/Client - Red Brick Roads - Design ideas

Having been given the specifications which are preferable to the musician, I began to generate Ideas which would help realise the Final Cover design. The full final video is currently Being edited with the aim to release it at the end of May 2018. Though having seen the process and filming of the video I had a clear idea of how it could be represented on the cover, firstly the images used have been turned black and white as setting of the video has too, with the only colour being the red smoke.

The aspect of the red smoke has been suggested to be incorporated into the design, perhaps through the typography (AS THE ALBUM IMAGES HAVE BEEN CHOSEN AND EDITED IN COLLAB WITH CHARLIE - THE MUSICIAN)

Type -

I started by attempting to produce an idea of a red and black gradient box, to represent the smoke and the clash of the bold red and monochomatic black and white. Though this did not look great as a flat Image I feel it could be attempted on designs. Charlie and I agreed to try it but were not fully happy with the smoke Idea. This lead me too look closer at some bold reds, based on brightest section of this red/black gradient sample.

Red -

Through looking at Pantone we wanted to get a red which would work on the digital platforms it will be released on. Looking at a few variations and comparing to the red colours already worked on we have chosen to use Pantone 186CP. A red that is a bit darker than standard and will contrast the balck and white muted images well.

Following this I shall began to consolidate ideas and produce a first range of ideas.
