Rationale - The main aim of the project is to combine typography with a relevant subject matter to celebrate its anniversary. Choosing avant-garde artist Olga Rozanova becuase she is an artist who deserves more recognition, especially as this year marks 100 years since her death. By using her artistic styles I will mix typography with compositions of suprematist style art, being inspired by a free layout I will explore how her work can inform the design of a publication and poster series highlighting her life and works.
By producing small compositions inspired by Rozanovas own suprematist style of collaging coloured geometric shapes, I will produce typographic layouts to these compositions to creatively layout the text of the book (Content formed of details of Rozanovas life) and also use Rozanovas work to artistically design the layout and format of each page individually.
Purpose -
To demonstrate how Olgas art can inform typographic compositions which still retain the purpose of legibility and communication.
Through linking the project to Russian educational foundation the Strelka Institute, will produce a professional standard publication the outlines the life and works of Rozanova. Treating the brief as a commision from the Russian Strelka will help keep the aesthetic and tone of voice clear, it must be well designed and educational. Through this it wa
The Publication will consider the ideas, styles, methods and techniques used by Rozanova in her own work. The publication will experiment with layout and form the same way which Suprematist artists worked on their compositions “pure artistic feeling”.
