'Mods' by Richard Barnes is hailed as the Mod bible, it is a definitive collection, the Mods book, provides as accurate a portrayal as you are likely to find of the life and times that were the background to the early movement. The book is a look into the portfolio of images which barnes took, These photos would provide profound inspiration to the young mods who carried on the movement in the 80's and were a major influence in the direction of the Mod revival, which transformed from it's punk inspired beginnings into a far more stylish and musically aware scene - and it's in this form it continues to thrive today.
The Images inside take a raw look at the early mods, the black and white images of the life style they lead, Barnes' images paint the mod scene of the sixties in a romantic light, sort of like a rock and roll life of gangs, fashion, music and fighting. The Images would be perfect for the design I have in mind to make, which is a re-imagined bank note for the UK, which looks at british subcultures, mainly of the working class, something of an opposite of the monarchy that it regularly showcases.
