Ethical Design - Research - Peter Kennard - Domesday - poem 2 - Peter Kennards Work

From Rubble, a century's slip-way,
Exports emerge,
The dealers profit through the mud.

In my ears din
The same old voices,
Different throats.

From their gobs
The logo grin
Prevails.

Designed to omit
The exports of arms
Designed to kill.

Wired for sound,
To give voice
To their voice,

Loud but deaf
Dumb but loud.
Wired for power,

Broadcasting cliches of the vocal,
Designed for subtraction
And avoidance:

'Those removed, stay removed.
Those silent, stay silent.
Those classed 'under' stay under - '

In everyday war,
Fought by all means
Unnecessary.

This toxic celebration
Sees out the century,
Leaving the mute mute.

I have referenced this poem as part of my research as I feel it can be broken down and used as text content for the project, how ever it will transcend. Its sharp tone and social commentary though made a number of years ago are still relevant today and make me think of the current government in power. The project can use this and other of Peter Kennard's techniques of collage and photomontage with modern imagery and social issues. Using images of current politicians and up to date statistics.
