Collaborative Group Meeting - Design and style - ideas

Coming together we discussed the research we had each undertaken, discussing what we had looked at and how this can influence the design choices we make. With the concept in place we all had an aim of looking at design which was non-conforming, bold and different.

Emma -

Looking at the Dada movement, examining a number of designers who are related to the style and the design aspects which make the movement. Looking at functional design and related designers. Exploring De stilj and other movements.

Neuland is a family of convex-shaped capitals reminiscent of German Expressionists woodcut lettering. Known for its "unusual expressiveness; a subtle harmony of... ruggedness and a delicacy of design." This could be a potential typeface to use in our experimentations.

Michael -

Looking into Jan Tschichold, looking at how the typography can work in new forms, this combined with my own research in designers such as Wolfgang Weingart, the group has a good range of influences to take inspirations from.
