Current Google Userface

The google homepage uses a simple clear structure in comparison to other browsers and search engines, like most websites a 12 column grid is used to layout the page. With such a distinct clean look, Googles simplistic look is seen throughout there different apps and pages with colour schemes and type faces remaining the same throughout these. Googles homepage consists of search bar, speech tool, drop down application menu, google + button, google account button, Gmail link, google logo, feeling lucky button. In designing a new application for Google, it is vital to keep with what Google is about now, using icons which are used throughout Googles other apps and pages, icons such as the G+, Google Account and the app drop down menu should all remain on the new application pages.

On almost all of googles pages, the header of the page almost always remains as it is seen above, with some slight adjustments, for example if on Google Drive it will say that in the top left hand corner with the search bar moving more central. It is key to keep a clean simple look which is also informative and clear, following the formula which works already yet also making it better on the page which will be produced for the Google bookmarks Application.

Google applications drop down box shows the browsers most used applications, Gmail, Drive, Calendar, sheets, etc. all of these have an icon to show clearly there purpose as well they all follow the google colour scheme utilising the red, green, blue and yellow, all specific pantones which are copyrighted to google, these help build up Googles branded identity. With the concept of 'Google Bookmarks' it will require a small brand of its own, an icon so that it can be placed onto a toolbar and as well in the app drop down box, the icon will need to follow the colour scheme and style of the other icons already in use, while the features of the app link with other google applications, it is important to have the icon as a traditionally Google style.

Google accounts are widely used, with a Google account this gives the user access to Gmail, a youtube account, a blogger account, and much more content through this. This feature throughout Google allows a more personal experience for the user, in that the content he or she is viewing can be sculptured to there search history, this can be applied to the bookmarks app as it will be a space to save websites, articles, images and videos, for easy access and viewing of favourite websites and also previously viewed content. With a personal account, bookmarks could offer up related content and websites to those which are already saved onto your account. With Google accounts linked to youtube, bookmarks will allow the user to save videos through this and have playlists saved to there google bookmarks page.

Google Notifications share updates and alerts from your account across Google and its apps such as emails, alerts and updates, it also informs the user if something has been shared with you, shared through Google drive, as part of Bookmarks, a share option would work to share your saved content with others as well as with blogger to easily put on images and articles.
