I began producing thumbnail ideas, generating numerous designs which could lead me on to more developed ideas and designs. I had initially wanted to produce for the Etta James hit 'At Last' I had related this song to jazz, soul and rock and with that came ideas of instruments and flowers and colour. With the help of my research into album covers I found that the designs started to take shape, with retro style and rough hand drawn looks.
I looked at shapes and then facial features and forms trying to create ideas which were relatable yet interesting to me. I created a wide range of ideas some which were unusable others which I felt I could develop further.
Having looked at collage in my research I naturally wanted to experiment with this media and see how I could vary the look of the design, using as much media as I could. I also looked at objects within my room that I related to music and the music of the songs which were featured in the list of secret 7. I looked at my own record collection and also my guitar amp and started to sketch them out within my sketch book, just to help generate more ideas.
I continued looking at shapes, patters, and flowers, creating a wide selection of hand drawn thumbnail ideas. I wanted to develop a number of these ideas further to see where I could go with them. I wanted to look more into collage to begin with.
