Digital Edited Designs Secret 7"

Using the collages, drawings and paintings which I produced, I scanned them in to attempt to edit and change to create some new looks for the hand made images. Using photoshop and Illustrator to edit them, playing with colours and the edit tools on these programmes, experimenting with the appearance of these images. I chose to use this route of editing online because of my research into the collage book I read, which inspired me to experiment with hand made pictures. This first image, i edited contrast and played with negative effects on the bright image, the bottom image of the two, looked like a series of planets in the sky, this would work well with the Tame Impala song, it looks surreal and would fit in with there style on the chosen song of theirs.

Using the same image I played around with the colours, making them look dark and old and then bright and soft on the second of the two images above, the effect which makes the top one look old and worn would work  well with Etta James or John Lennon songs, the old effect would look retro and 60's at which time both of these had world fame.

Having looked a lot at flowers within my research and other hand drawn design ideas, I wanted to continue using them, having seen the results from the other college. Once again I used the same process as on the first styles of design, editing imagery to create a brand new image from my hand made collage. I felt this design was not as strong as the previous it felt to scrappy and didnt work, even with the editing.

Though realising this design was not strong enough I felt that I should thoroughly explore all routes and continued to experiment with it. I felt that if id have continued with this I would have possibly found a good style to put it in yet felt the other designs I had were initially stronger than this.

I combined collage and hand drawn for this design, surrounding the collaged image with a floral pattern where I drew rough small flowers to create a strong surrounding for the imagery in the centre. The design had a strong response from peer feedback and I was told worked well through editing, I used similar techniques as I had on previous designs.

This I felt was the strongest of my hand made digitally edited pieces. I painted a set of flowers using different water colours. Once Again I digitally edited these images and changed the original style of them, I felt any one of the above can work well and be used as an album cover, especially the top left black and colour outline one, the effect has worked immensely well and come out very clear.

Using one of the more popular digitally edited designs, I mocked up this design of an album cover it inverted some of the colours and changed the entire look of the design to interesting results. This is one of the designs which I found very interesting and visually effective.
