Im rather drawn to a floral look for my album cover, It will add a burst of colour to the design and it contrasts yet compliments images at the same time, like above the combination of the flowers crudely pasted over 60's model Twiggy's face. The opposites of the black moody image with the bright explosion of colour from the flowers. It adds a sense of psychedelic and expression to the image, something I would like to have in my designs.
I continued to look at collage, especially ones which combined contrasting images, this one for example combines old and modern, it takes images from a 1950s house brochure and combines them with images from a history book on neanderthals hunting. The couple sit and eat there meal on deck chairs whilst these pre evolution men hunt down an old extinct species. The way in which these images are combined make the image seem real, it creates a surreal interesting piece.
These two look at identity and combine well known famous people with great landscapes, yet it takes away there identity by cutting out part of or all of there face. I have produced work similar to this at college level, yet no where near as good as this, I feel this would create such a relevant aesthetic for the competition as it is secret seven and by taken away the face of the singer will hopefully conceal there identity, and create something interesting and surreal at the same time.
I looked at the famous Pop Art Piece 'Just what is it that makes today's homes so different, so appealing?' which combines a number of new technology, foods and styles to produce a loving room built up of modern things at the time it was made 1956. It was meant to show the new norm of how households will look due to the new products that had been produced.
This is the album cover for Oasis' album 'Dig out your soul' there seventh and final album. The psychedelic cover is made up of a range of pictures to form a surreal, colourful and interesting design. Liam Gallagher of oasis was heavily involved in the design and went on to produce a clothes line inspired by this style.
