Interim Crit 6/11/2015

A small group of my peers and I gathered to critique one and others work so far, bringing the work we had done up to this point to be critiqued and to be given opinions of where to go next with our work so that we can meet our brief and create a relevant legible type. 

I took my development work which I had hand rendered to the crit and explained what I had researched to get me to this point, and where I felt I was going with this brief. Here is my peers feedback to me;

• 'Childs shyness, Small Discreet, X height consideration.'
• 'The Q idea (From the 'Queens of the stone age' research) could be implemented on to different letter forms'

• 'Like how you looked into the history of shy and arguing why its origins aren't suitable.'
• 'Look into the idea of hiding certain letterforms behind one another but ones that still retain the recognisability, yet not the entire words so that singular letterforms can be the shy ones.

• 'Clearly thought about why Caslon is appropriate for the word.'
• 'I think that developing the idea of the letters hiding inside letters (the Q) could be really effective to show the word.'

• 'Excellent to look back to origins of the word.'

I found this informative and I am happy with the feedback I got, I felt I was heading in the correct direction and that my ideas were informed and well thought out, I feel I can start more developed and finalised pieces now which are informed by my first designs and this critique.
